Charlie Kirk

I never met Charlie Kirk in person or attended any of his events. My closest encounters with him were through my TV and computer screens. Yet, I felt a deeper connection to this young man—through his belief in God, the Bible, the U.S. Constitution, and conservative principles—than I did with my own son. Being Charlie Kirk’s father must be an incredible honor. I grieve alongside his parents in their loss.

Charlie was a believer! He believed in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Charlie believed and received Jesus’ work on the cross. He was a man of God who enjoyed the gifts of the Holy Spirit and used them to do God’s will. Charlie was remarkably well-read; he absorbed information at lightning speed, communicated it with unflinching truth, and did so at the highest level. Despite his extraordinary talent at such a young age, he remained humble and always credited God for his achievements.

Charlie co-founded Turning Point USA to teach college and high school students the U.S. Constitution and the Bible. He recognized the damage that secular, elitist university professors were inflicting on our young people and our nation. Patriotism had been supplanted by hatred for our country. God and the Ten Commandments had been replaced by communism and its offspring: Marxism, fascism, and socialism. Charlie understood that our nation’s Constitution was penned by Christian men steeped in Scripture, who wove God’s Word into its framework and the Bill of Rights.

the Bible and U.S. Constitution

In my humble opinion, the two greatest documents ever written are the Bible and the U.S. Constitution. Charlie was deeply versed in both. Filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, he exposed the false narratives of secular elitists with unyielding truth—the foundation of which is Scripture, God’s Word.

This did not sit well with the secular elitists or their malevolent offspring: Antifa, Black Lives Matter, and Trantifa (the newest malignant sibling). They unleashed the world’s darkness, sowing hate, devastation, and death. We’ve witnessed Antifa’s destruction of Portland, the riots, looting, and burning of 48 major American cities by BLM, and now the rising murders of innocent people by Trantifa. The left’s darkness was laid bare as they celebrated Charlie’s death on social media sites—many of them teachers and professors. Even mainstream media tried to blame Charlie for his own assassination, citing his “divisive” rhetoric. If Charlie’s words were truly divisive, then so were those of Jesus, JFK, and MLK.

In stark contrast, Charlie’s horrific assassination has sparked peaceful vigils, where the only flames are from prayer candles. Charlie embodied God’s light in this world. Reading the venomous comments about him, you’d think he spread hate and lies. But true hate and lies erupt in riots, looting, burning, and murder. Love and truth respond with peaceful prayer. Charlie was one of God’s brightest lights—and a beacon for our time.

Prayer vigil for Charlie Kirk and his family

I am continually amazed by Charlie’s brilliance. He ventured onto college campuses and, in just a few years, began dismantling 40 years of secular elitist falsehoods. Rather than sitting behind a microphone at a desk, he charged into enemy territory. He engaged students directly through civil discourse and debate, winning their minds. Young people from all walks of life—from rural heartlands to urban centers—across our country heard God’s truth. By reaching campuses firsthand, Charlie brought God’s light to the entire nation.

Turning Point USA and founder Charlie Kirk

Several years ago, I heard Charlie speak, which prompted me to research him and Turning Point USA. It filled me with hope; I saw God’s hand at work and wanted to get involved. But I also realized it was a youth-led movement for young people. So, I adopted it as one of “my grandchildren”—that’s what I call my seven favorite charities. If you lack grandchildren or have room for one more, please consider donating to Turning Point USA. It’s a powerful way to save our country and draw more souls toward God’s light. Think of it this way: Turning Point could be that one child or grandchild who builds a better world for all your loved ones.

A few weeks ago, Charlie posted on X that our priorities should be God, family, and country—in that order. I respectfully disagreed, suggesting God, country, and family instead. What good is a family in a Marxist or fascist nation? I reminded him of the fallen soldiers in Arlington and other veterans’ cemeteries, who placed country before family so that their loved ones—and ours—could live in freedom. Charlie didn’t reply to my post. But it’s ironic: like those heroes, he put our nation’s freedom before his own family. By entering the belly of the beast, Charlie fought for all our freedoms—and paid the ultimate price.

I keep hearing politicians and news anchors urge us to tone down the rhetoric. Who benefits most from that—Satan or God? Darkness thrives only in a world that tolerates it. Did Jesus tone down His message? Did Charlie? Like Jesus, Charlie delivered truth with civility. If anything, he taught us to keep speaking it boldly. If there’s anything Charlie has taught us, it is that we need to continue to speak the truth. We need to continue to be the light in this dark world.

Abba, Father in heaven, thank you for Charlie Kirk. Although his time on this earth was too short, he was an extraordinary gift to our country. Please favor his wife Erika and their children, Charlie’s parents and the rest of his loved ones and friends
with extra blessings as we mourn his loss.
I also pray for Charlie’s assassin, Tyler, and his parents and loved ones. Tyler fell prey to the secular elitist of this world who embrace darkness. It was also people like Tyler, who Charlie was trying to help. Perhaps Tyler is beyond his parents reach, but he is not beyond Your reach. Grant him a spiritual awakening, help him to turn towards You and away from the darkness of this world. May he choose to be filled with Your light
and be guided by your Holy Spirit.
Lord, nothing happens without Your permission and you remind us in Romans 8:28,”that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” We don’t understand Charlie’s premature death but we accept and trust in Your will. Please continue to bless America with peace, justice and a commitment to the truth. -Amen

I remember when Rush Limbaugh died and I thought who will ever be able to replace him. And then God blesses us with Charlie Kirk and he was Rush Limbaugh times a factor of 100. I can’t wait to see who God blesses us with next!

In my bible studies I came across a commentator who wrote that God uses people for His greatness. But He prepares those He uses for greatness to do His work. God prepared Charlie to perform the greatness God made him for. Charlie responded by not using God’s amazing gifts to bless himself but to bless the world with God’s message. How many people did God save with the greatness He prepared Charlie for? We can’t ask why Charlie had to die because then we would have to ask why Jesus had to die?

We all need to be more like Charlie and allow people to see guides light shine in us. No more being a secret Christian for me. Thank God for Charlie Kirk.
